I initially intended to capture the vibrant, energetic bloom of a sunflower placed in a pitcher, in a sunlit room on a relaxing day off.
Yet, strangely enough, with every stroke of the brush, its expression seemed to settle into a deeper calm. By the time it was finished, the vivid brilliance I had first envisioned had faded into something far more serene and quiet.
What I react to as an individual and what I seek as an artist are not always the same. In the end, perhaps this is what a sunflower truly means to me right now.
When I paint this flower again next year, I hope to find it wearing a slightly brighter expression.

○From TOKYO RIMPA
This art piece features a striking contrast between the vibrant yellow sunflower and the modern, nuanced gray background. While it boasts catchy, pop-art-like colors, the single flower placed in a glass pitcher exudes a sense of dignified calm and elegance. Combining the beauty of empty space inspired by traditional "Rimpa" aesthetics with a stylish modern touch, the piece offers a truly refined finish.
