I often find myself thinking that the buildings before my eyes—places where people live, come and go, and light their rooms at night—will one day grow old and eventually stand empty. When I encountered the scene in this work, I was reminded of that quiet vision.
Beneath the familiar, expansive sky, even the largest structures inevitably change with time and fade away. Yet this does not feel melancholic to me. Rather, as I gaze upon this slow, transient moment, I feel a gentle urge to preserve this sensation within the work.
